Miami Firefighter Retires - 30 Years of Service

PCS Events had the pleasure of working with Mr Steve Brodie in planning a final farewell dinner at the station in honor of his many years of service to the Miami community. The men on-duty joined Mr. Brodie in a formal dinner with several passed hors d'oeuvres, Rosemary-Garlic Aged Tenderloin of Beef and Broiled Lobster Tails. The meal would not have been complete with out the music of a harpist that played throughout the evening. Many commented that all of the fireman should host a similar event for their last shift. I must agree that it is more than well-deserved. 

PCS Events would like to say Congratulations and Thank You to Mr.Steve Brodie for his dedication and commitment to our Miami public safety.

Wedding Registries - Cash Gifts, Dreams and New Homes

Due to a greater emphasis on education and careers, many couples are marrying later and often have their households established before moving on to marriage.  More and more couples are paying for their own weddings, honeymoons and thinking about the down payment of their first home. When it comes to wedding registries, many of my couples ask if they are necessary and if there is a polite way to ask for monetary gifts.

There are sites where you can set-up an account for free and manage your monetary gifts on-line.  For a small fee upon withdrawal of funds, they essentially veil the "asking for money upfront" while allowing your guests to believe they are contributing to the honeymoon or your new home. SunTrust has even established a bridal registry for your down payment.  

There will always be guests who believe that giving money is tacky but if you offer them the option of one of the sites listed below plus a wedding registry as an alternative you'll get the best of both worlds. Get creative! Some sites offer options like once in a lifetime experiences, a gift of something you may have always wanted to do, or even a gift in the couple's name to someone less fortunate.  There are many options these days that weren't available in the past.  You will have the opportunity to find what you need and introduce your guests to a new way of gift-giving.

Special Event & Wedding Up Lighting

Up Lighting is a subtle splash of light, usually colored, on the perimeter of walls. This is not to be confused with wall washing which turns walls into one solid color. Tone down the house lights and the room takes on a rich, warm, comfortable and romantic atmosphere.
Lighting can be used in a variety of ways. It can define a given area, entrance or art piece.  It can create a given mood or bring out a particular theme.

Traditional stage up lights use a bulb and a colored gel to create the effect desired. They come in a variety of colors...amber, cherry red, fucshia, cool blue, lavender, green and many others.  The up lights are positioned against the base of walls and shine upward creating a wonderful splash of color, placed every few feet as the room takes on this wonderful tinge, including existing sconces and chandeliers.

Led up lights utilize three color “eyes”, red, green and blue and from the mixing of these colors a myriad of colors are possible. LEDs can also be changed easily by a lighting controller, and can even fade into one color after another. A lighting tech is always on hand to alter colors if needed. The LEDs are also placed on the perimeter of the walls. LEDs require very little wattage. Sometimes we recommend this type of lighting if the facility’s electrical power is limited. A bit more expensive than the stage up lights, we still offer led up lighting combined with some stage up lights at a very reasonable rate. Again, the emphasis with PCS Events is to have enough up lights to create our unique and recognizable up lighting experience for a true WOW effect!
